The Housing Estate is situated at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, in the outskirts of the town. The layout is designed to create a safe and quite environment, dominated by the greenery, the natural sunlight and the open spaces. The estate consists of two groups of three-storied row houses. There are 4 houses in group A and 5 houses in group B. Eight of the houses have similar (150-180 m2) size and space organization. The kitchen, the living and the dining room are on the ground floor. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor and a small studio with large terrace on the top floor. Each of the houses has its own garden in front of the living room.
The ninth house, located at the end of the range is bigger and differs from the others. The houses in group B are attached in a straight row facing south. Group A units are staggered, which allows for better view of the mountain and more privacy than the houses in the straight raw.
The higher density of the buildings saves area for individual and common green spaces in the limited area of the plot. The compact structures increase the energy efficiency and the maintenance costs.
With respect to the environment, the design of the buildings is minimalist, the elevations are calm, the finishing materials – stone, wood and concrete, correspond to the image of the surrounding nature. The composition of repetitive modules reflects the structure of the single units and defines the human scale of the buildings.
